Description

Nomenclature fascinates elementary age children.  Developmentally, they are ordering their world in order to better understand it abstractly. The sequence of cards models the Montessori philosophy of progressing from broad concepts to increasing levels of detail.  These card sets use the more current nomenclature system, which segregates the root as a separate system from the above ground shoot system.

Four-part botany nomenclature cards (name, definition, drawing with an isolated feature, and control card) lead the child to explore the rich diversity of botany while learning valuable terminology.

Also included are black-line masters of the pictures for each Parts of . . . card set to enable children to create their own booklets as a follow-up activity.  Note that for emergent readers, teachers may elect to make only the picture and name cards accessible to the children, reserving the definition cards for lesson presentation and/or for more advanced readers.
