Map Studies: Bird’s Eye View

$20.00

Introduce children to the abstract and symbolic process of map reading by experiencing perspective drawings.    Suitable for E-I
• Level 1 – small scale manipulative objects… Can you hold a pencil so it looks like a pink circle?
• Level 2 – medium scale fixed objects… What would the swingset look like viewed from above it?
• Level 3 – large scale fixed objects… What would a parking lot look like viewed from the side?
These experiences prepare children for map reading, but will also influence children’s art!

Description

Leveled lessons and 4-part cards provide children with experiences that transition from concrete, 3-dimensional objects to 2-dimensional representations of the objects from the top, front, and side views.

Each of the three leveled card sets comes with a watercolor AND a black-line master for each card.  Color is recommended for the initial presentation, reserving the black-line version for children’s practice to remove what will by then be unnecessary color cues.
